I consider myself the editor- the one who makes sure the client’s home reflects their personal lifestyle and creates a true home that looks finished, curated and livable.
My biggest surprise in transitioning to residential design was that every client asked me for Christmas decorations that complemented their home, yet I struggled to find timeless decor that had the same lasting qualities of the items we were using to style their homes: the lining and interring in drapes, cording on pillows, quality fabrics, & artwork.

I started creating custom items for clients and that was the inception of Fig & Dove. We collaborated on our initial collections with fabric companies and artisans I knew through the interior design business. Each season we introduce new artists and pieces that will complement offerings from previous collections.

During the holidays, my home reflects my personal style at Christmas time. Rather than a more traditional red and green scheme, I’ve always been drawn to the lavender and purple shades which reflect the season of advent: the advent candles and the robes of the three kings.
My crystal nativity set is one of my favorite Christmas decorations. My parents gave me the Mary, Joseph, & Jesus set (pictured above) the first Christmas I was married and the wise men the following year. That set is something I thought of when creating our set of criteria for Fig & Dove.

Our Christmas stockings (pictured above) are a combination of the Fortuny Simboli pattern for my husband and me, with their coordinating solids for our three sons. Even I am not going to stuff chocolate Santas into a Fortuny stocking for a 13-year-old boy! I love to layer thistle into our garland. It adds a lot of color and depth and you can hardly tell the difference from when it’s fresh to when it dries out.
It’s timeless, beautiful, and would look equally good in a modern or traditional home. It has taken me four years to come up with a “Fig & Dove” nativity scene, but I”m excited that we are working on prototypes for one for 2020!

I change our tree topper every year with something new from our collection, but always still use the precious toppers in a different way. Our acrylic star toppers were designed with a stand as well as an integral loop so they could be hung from a chandelier. Last year, I used a nest topper by Kaki Foley, but that spent the rest of the year hung on our wall and this year I’m using an oversized Dove designed by Louisiana sculptor, Brad Bourgoyne.
I believe no one is too old to enjoy decorating gingerbread houses and this has become a time-honored family tradition.
