SH: Where should a homeowner take a risk?
CH: The new ceramic and porcelain tiles that mimic encaustic tiles have a lot of impact and would be great in a laundry room, bathroom, or backsplash where you want to make a statement. If you prefer a more restrained approach, consider adding an inset into the shower wall or bathroom floor. Perhaps you lay your tile in a herringbone or chevron pattern. Homeowners are also taking their kitchen backsplash to the ceiling, which offers a lot of look for the money.

CH: A home should always reflect your personal style, and there is something for everyone. It’s our safe haven at the end of a long day. With a few updates the feelings of clean, clutter-free, and peacefulness can become a reality. Look through magazines, and at Pinterest or Houzz for inspiration and to determine the style of room that you gravitate to.
